History

The Foz do Rio Chiloango is a river located in the northernmost province of Angola (Cabinda), 198 km from Luanda (by road).

The place is considered one of the most emblematic tourist spots in the city, being visited by hundreds of people from various parts of Angola and beyond, who seek to see the beautiful landscape and the incredible leisure environment that the place offers up close.

Historians say that during colonial times, the drainage of wood from the Maiombe forest was carried out through the Chiloango River, which served as a means of communication.

Colonized by Europeans, the Chiloango River became a river with a geopolitical soul, allowing the border separation between Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Congo and Angola. At 160km away, it is possible to see Lândana (municipality of Cacongo) and sail to Luáli (the river near Maiombe).

History tells that before the existence of roads, it was there where people transported goods to the interior of Cabinda, by the facts narrated, the importance and impact that this river has for the socio-economic growth of the province is notorious.
