Iron Palace

The Iron Palace is a work of art by the French international Gustave Eiffel, the same Eng. who designed the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, discover in what year it was built and how it became a cultural space, open to the public.

The Iron Palace is a historic building of Luanda, in Angola, which according to historical sources, there are strong possibilities of being the author of Gustave Eiffel. This information was confirmed in 2015, when the French embassy in Angola classified the Iron Palace as a work by Gustave Eiffel.

According to the aforementioned sources, the original set of the various pavilions that make up the Palace was designed by Gustave Eiffel for an international exhibition, being later acquired and assembled in Luanda by the Companhia Comercial de Angola, in 1896.

Located in downtown Luanda, the Palácio de Ferro is a historic building in Luanda, which historical sources believe to be authored by Gustave Eiffel, the same one who designed the Eiffel Tower, in Paris, France, the structure comprises a floor and three exhibition rooms.

The building has an original decoration in metallic filigree and has a superb surrounding porch, being the best example of iron architecture in Luanda and in Angola.

In addition to the emblematic structure, the iron palace has a temporary photographic exhibition called 'Memory and Restoration Process of the Iron Palace', with a duration of three months, which portrays the restoration and revitalization process of the Iron Palace.

With these exhibitions, the palace management intends to keep alive the historical memory of the palace, telling the story from the date of its appearance, in 1890, through the first decade of 2000, when the process of revitalization begins and culminates with the reopening in 2016.

In addition to the guided tour, activities such as theatre, music, poetry and much more are carried out in its various rooms, all to make the visit more attractive and pleasant.

The Palácio de Ferro is contemporary with the Eiffel Tower and the Palácio de Cristal in Porto, the structure is a unique example in Luanda and an urban reference.

After the degradation in the mid-twentieth century, and subsequent recovery, currently under the supervision of the Angolan Ministry of Culture, the possibility of the structure housing the Diamond Museum, restaurant, cultural center and even the seat of the ministry is being studied. of culture.
